What to Do Before You Reach Us
For a knocked-out tooth, handle it only by the crown, never the root, rinse it gently, and try to reinsert it into the socket if possible – if not, keep it in milk or saliva and get to us quickly, since a knocked-out tooth has the best chance of being saved within the first hour. For a broken tooth, save any pieces and rinse with warm water. For a lost filling or crown, keep it if you can and cover the exposed area with dental wax or temporary cement from a pharmacy until you can be seen, and avoid chewing on that side in the meantime.
